Bike Kitchen- Capital of Cycling

This session is open to all; a community bike fix DIY drop-in session where you can come along and use our workshop to repair your own bike. You’ll have access to our tools, our stock of new & used bike parts and we’ll have experienced mechanics on hand to help and advise you should you need it.

We suggest a donation of between £2 – £15 for the session, plus the cost of any new and used parts you use on your bike. The amount you pay can be decided based on how much you valued the session – what tools, equipment & expertise you use.

All donations will go towards supporting the Capital of Cycling workshop and our activities. It will cover wear & tear of tools and upkeep of the workshop.

Can I reserve a space?

This is a drop-in session, so you just need to turn up and we’ll be here to help!

These sessions do get very busy so there is a chance we’ll need to turn you away if we’re too busy. We do aim to close and go home at 8pm so coming sooner is best.

Improver Bike Maintenance- Capital of Cycling

In 6 hours with our mechanics in the Capital of Cycling workshop, you’ll get time to learn about how to service brakes, gears & look after and replace your chain.

We’ll discuss common problems, signs of wear etc and teach you how to recognise and repair them. We can also provide an introduction to bearing servicing and wheel truing to those who are interested.

We won’t be covering bleeding hydraulic brakes or servicing suspension forks.

You’ll be able to do practical parts of the course on your own bike, to learn about the components you have, but can borrow a bike from us if you’d prefer.

This course is ideal for anyone who has done some repairing of bikes but would like to learn more. We recommend you do a Beginner Bike Maintenance course before attending this. We hope to give you an introduction to the most important aspects of bike repairs and maintenance.

Participants must be over 16 years of age.
