Burley Parish- Burley Walkers are Welcome
Simon Archer will lead the first long walk of the year, an 8 to 9 mile circular walk around Burley Parish. Starting out eastwards along the old railway line, we will walk around the lower slopes of Burley Parish in an anti-clockwise direction. Walking alongside the river and then the Goit, we will head to the edge of Burley Moor passing Audley Clevedon before making our way along to the Hermit for refreshments. Return to Burley will be across the fields or along Hag Farm Road. Please bring a picnic lunch. The route will use field paths and tracks and will be muddy in places.
Ben Rhydding- Burley Walkers are Welcome
This 5 mile walk visits the eastern edge of Ben Rhydding. Walking up to Burley Woodhead via Moor Lane, we will cross Coldstone Beck bridge before climbing up the western side of the beck onto Burley Moor. Walking along the lower edge of the moor, we will then drop down to Ben Rhydding for refreshments at Clevedon restaurant. The return to Burley will be along field paths to Catton Wood and Sun Lane. There are no stiles. There is one steep ascent which we will take steadily, and moorland paths are rocky in places.
The Wharfe in Winter- Burley Walkers are Welcome
The first 3-mile low level walk of the year follows Burley’s main riverside path. Burley via Eastfield Lane, we will walk alongside Mickle Ings Beck before dropping down to the main road. We will then make our way along the riverside path to Greenholme Mill and return to Burley along Iron Row. Refreshments will be at Cockpit Farm Tea Rooms. The walk is level with some muddy stretches. There are no stiles.
