Ilkley Car Free Festival 2024

The Ilkley Car Free Festival is Back! This will be its 4th year and will take place on Sunday 22nd September, coordinating with World Car Free Day. As always, it will take place on The Grove in the centre of town, from 11am-4pm.

There is going to be so much to see and do at this fun, community event, including the Ilkley Active Travel Village, which will include:

  • Experience Community will be there again with all their fantastic adaptive mobility equipment that you can try out.
  • Our FREE bike mechanic is back again, so take your bike along if you’ve got any issues with it and get it fixed! There’ll be a small donation requirement if any parts need to be replaced.
  • Try out an e-bike and cargo bike and see if they’re for you. Try before you hire!
  • Pedal on the Grove is a free fun cycling skills session especially for kids aged between 4-11yrs old. It is run by the Ilkley Cycling Club with a fully qualified British Cycling instructor. There’s no need to book- your kids just need to turn up between 11am-4pm, but don’t forget their bike & helmet! Parents are expected to be close by while the kids take part.
  • Alpkit will there too, demonstrating their bikes.
  • As will Capital of Cycling selling second hand cycling clothes.
  • We will also have schools there representing Living Streets and their successful walking to school initiative.

As well as the Active Travel village, there will be lots of other activities at the Car Free Festival, including:

  • Street play for kids
  • Green energy providers and advisers
  • Public/shared transport providers
  • Ask a scientist
  • Eco information and advice
  • Community stalls
